Clarksville Little Theatre’s 2008-2009 Season

__

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers: “Goin’ courting” has never been as much fun as in this rip-roaring stage version of the popular MGM movie. Millie is a young bride living in the 1850s Oregon wilderness whose plan to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law backfires when the brothers, in their enthusiasm, kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides. Bursting with the rambunctious energy Seven Brides For Seven Brothers is all boisterous fun.

Directed by Gary Tipton

Show dates: September 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 2008

__

The Curious Savage: Ethel P. Savage has just inherited several million dollars from her deceased husband. Unfortunately, Ethel's three greedy stepchildren all want a piece of the inheritance, so they arrange to have her put into a sanatorium. In the sanatorium she meets various social misfits, who need the help Mrs. Savage can provide. This heart-warming comedy will leave you feeling that the neglected virtues of kindness and affection have not been entirely lost in a world that seems motivated at times only by greed and dishonesty.

Directed by Craig Nolan Highley

Show dates: November 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 2008

__

Seussical The Musical: The mischievous Cat in the Hat narrates this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! This show has lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville! These classic, colorful tales are seamlessly brought together by Jojo, a young boy and “thinker of strange and wonderful thinks”! As each story unfolds you will marvel at how relevant and profound Seuss’s subtle themes are; making this musical one that appeals to all ages.

Directed by Mike Seely

Show dates: January 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 2009

__

Assassins: From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish rollercoaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and in an intense final scene inspire each other to horrifying acts in the name of their “American Dream.” Assassins asks us to examine their motivation and question what in our culture creates such men and women. Bold, original, surreal, disturbing, and thought-provoking, the Broadway revival won five 2004 Tony Awards.

Directed by Janet Morris

Show dates: March 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 2009

__

Thoroughly Modern Millie: This Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love. Millie soon begins to take to delight in the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China! Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment.

Directed by Larry Chaney

Show dates: May 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 2009
